I started with by designing on Photoshop then worked towards a  more resolved idea based on using black to represent the Gothic and bliue to represent the waterways of Venice.The idea gave in the proposal was very much based on 18th century concept of a Columbine andinfluenced by designs for costumes for Russian Ballet. I also decided to make this a hybrid  Glam and 18th century carnival and commedia lel arte to conflate these periods around the common thread of gender representation and disguise. Thus I  decided to combine contemporary materials such as vinyl with silks and satins within all the costumes.
